What an amazing and emotional weekend it was being able to watch Erica’s sister Melissa compete for Team USA versus Argentina in their last game before they head to London for the 2012 Olympics.
There were so many surreal moments when you couldn’t believe it was all really happening. From my perspective to see this woman who was just a 6th grade girl when I first saw her now being hounded for autographs or scoring an amazing goal against one of the best teams in the entire world was unbelievable. I can only imagine the feelings her Mother and sister were having seeing all of this unfold.
After the game we attended a reception where they announced the official roster for the Olympics games and it was very special. To attend the event with her UCONN coaches and the families of the players was really outstanding. The amount of pride and love in the room was palpable. Everyone had so much joy and can’t wait to see all of the amazingly hard work these women have put in pay off on the world stage next month. It truly was a humbling experience and we were proud to be there to see it.
